September 2 - Ecclesiastes 3: 1-13

In our earlier lesson on the first two chapters in Ecclesiastes, we learned that Solomon had put forth a great effort to discern the true meaning of life. What was the purpose?  His conclusion was that all things done by man for man were nothing more than chasing the wind.  Vanity of Vanities.

But, he also learned that when a person recognized that all of this was a gift from our God, that every day was a treasure, then some value could be found in these same things.  A person could truly eat, drink, and be merry when he accepted these as gifts from God and not an end unto themselves.

Solomon's gift from the Lord was wisdom.  It is through this gift that Solomon could explore this mystery.

So, obviously Solomon did not stop there (or else Ecclesiastes would be complete at this point and Pastor Don would have to find another scripture to discuss).  There was more to learn.

Join the pastor in continuing through this scripture to see what we else we can learn about the meaning of life when viewed from the perspective of a man that had everything..
